今度はCrudebyteによるJACK が新たなiOSのスタンダードを作るかも、というニュース。AudioBusはアプリとアプリのオーディオ信号をバーチャルに接続することのできる技術だったわけですが、このJACKはアプリとアプリのAudio 接続だけでなくMIDIの接続や同期も可能にするもので、その接続方法はユーザーがモジュールをケーブルでつなげていくような自由度を持ち、データの共有や、DAWソフトウェアや外部機器との接続も可能にするという。残念ながら今の時点でこのJACKをサポートするアプリはごくわずかでその効果を体験することはほとんどできない。しかし、このシステムコードはすでに無償公開されており、興味のあるディベロッパーならば誰でもすぐに試すことができる準備が整えられている。今後のiOS音楽アプリのあり方を大きく左右する要チェックの事項。詳しくは公式ホームページよりどうぞ。
