いよいよ今週末から開催されるNAMM 2014。今年の目玉は何と言っても「ドラムマシン」。ローランドによるTR-808や909の後継機発表が噂されるなか、スウェーデンのシンセメーカーElektronも新しいドラムマシンを発売することをアナウンスしました。
11月23日にドイツベルリンで行われたElektron Analog Keys のローンチパーティで、後方に怪しげに置かれていた箱の中身はこのドラムマシンだったわけです。
今回発表となったAnalog Rytmは8ボイスのアナログドラムマシンで、ドラムサウンドに加えサンプルのプレイバックも可能となっています。アナログサウンドとサンプルサウンドをどのように絡ませることができるのか、そのあたりに注目してみたいです。とはいえ、これまでのElektronマシンのクオリティを考えればサウンドは十分に期待できるものでしょう。このあたりはDave Smith Tempest あたりと比較してみたいところです。
Analog Rytmはサウンドだけでなくライブパフォーマンスも重視していることが伺えます。4×3のベロシティ＋プレッシャーセンシティブのドラムパッドが装備され、このあたりは 対 NI MaschineもしくはAKAI MPCといったところでしょうか？新しいパフォーマンススタイルが期待できそうです。
ひとまずは詳細＋デモサウンドを待つことにしましょう。

インドネシアの新しいシンセサイザーメーカーStron SystemによるアナログシンセサイザーStorn Magaの詳細が発表になりました。
以前FaceBookに投稿されていたクリーム色の鍵盤付きシンセサイザーとは違うようでやや残念ではありますが、音の方は期待通りのピュアアナログ。MIDIとモジュレーションパッチはデジタルで制御するハイブリッドタイプのシンセサイザーモジュールのようです。モジュールはポータブルケースに収まっており、持ち運びにも便利な頑丈な作りになっているようです。この辺りはRolandのSH-5あたりを思い起こさせます。
Stron Magaは2月上旬よりまずは10ユニットの出荷が開始される予定ですが、すでにプリオーダー10ユニットは売り切れのようです。しかしまずはどのような音なのかチェックしてみたいですね。2014年はアジアのメーカー勢にも期待できるかも!

まだ試していないんですが、このBrute LFOはiOSデバイスのヘッドフォンアウトプットからアナログシンセのCVインプットにLFOシグナルを送って、モジュレーションをかけることができるアプリなんだそうです。iPhoneやiPadをユーロラックモジュールシステムに組み込めてしまうというニッチなアイデア。面白そうですね。まずはArturia MiniBruteを操作しているビデオを見てみてください。

Tiptop AudioがリリースするToms 909はローランドのTR-909のLow tom/Mid tom/High tomサウンドを再現したユーロラック型のモジュール。オリジナルマシンよりもチューニング幅が大きく取られていたり、ボルテージコントロールが可能なことによって、キックサウンドのような低音からメタリックなパーカッションサウンドを作ることも可能になっている。
Toms 909は9つの三角波オシレーター＋フィルター＋VCA＋エンベロープの回路によって構成され、合計で450以上の部品が使われているという。この巨大な回路がわずか16HP幅のユーロラックケースの中に収まり、それはまるで「アナログの宝石」とでも言えるのかも。
ライブパフォーマンスでアーティストがどのように機材を使っているのかを見るはとても楽しいものです。新しい機材ともなればさらに興味は増します。
